Resources
The Gulf of Mexico is where the oil impacted which means water is the main resource in the area. Since it is a marine ecosystem, all the animals impacted live in the water. The water would be polluted and contaminated by the oil leaked in to the gulf. The water would become inhabitable to the ecosystem and all of the animals would either die or emigrate
How would competition be affected?
Since the water would be contaminated by the oil, different species would have to fight for new living space and clean water. One way interspecific competition would be impacted is, they could be competing for clean water. Shrimp and tuna competing for clean water could be an example of interspecific competition in the Gulf of Mexico. Intraspecific competition could be competing for the same thing but in their own species. A tuna and another tuna could fight for clean water to survive.
